Silver and Jewellery
Is my purchase environmentally friendly?
Wherever possible, I am working towards more ethical and more sustainable practices, environmentally and socially.
I use 100% recycled silver where possible, and when that isn’t an option my bullion supplier states that approximately 90% of the silver we purchase is recycled, but this is not certified and fully traceable, unfortunately. Silver has always been reused, repurposed, recovered and recycled, and this is still true today.
My gift boxes are 99% recycled, and blind debossed instead of printed, so they are fully recyclable. This is not empty words, I have had a Carbon audit and created a Carbon Reduction Plan with Business Wales, which I am implementing.
How long will my jeweller/SILVER take to arrive?
In the UK, it should arrive within 5 working days by Royal Mail Special Delivery (Signed For), as long as it is ‘In Stock’.
If you have a special request about timing, for example for a birthday or special occasion, please email and I will try and accommodate your request.
Can I return my purchase?
If you are not satisfied with your purchase and you want to return it, you may, click here for our Returns policy.
If I buy a gift online and it doesn’t fit or they don’t like it, can I return or exchange it?
Yes you can, click here for full returns policy. We also sell vouchers, which you might consider if you are unsure of your purchase.
Is the jewellery solid silver and is it hallmarked?
All my jewellery is as described, generally solid sterling silver (925) and is hallmarked at the London Assay Office if above the legal weight threshold (7.7g for silver).
Can orders be placed from abroad?
Unfortunately, standard delivery services from the UK abroad prohibit precious metals, but it is possible to send via some courier services. Please get in touch by email or phone and I will get a specific quote for a parcel to your destination.
How is my jewellery/SILVER packaged?
All items are beautifully presented in a quality presentation box (almost always 99% recycled and recyclable) which is sealed in a padded envelope or secure packaging, to protect it in transit.
How do I get an item repaired?
If you have a piece of Rauni Higson jewellery or Silver that needs repairing, please email with images or a description of the problem. Each repair is assessed individually. I would much prefer to sort out any problems myself, so please do get in touch.
What is the length of guarantee on jewellery and silverware?
My pieces are made to last, and I hope you will enjoy using them/wearing them for many years to come, and pass them on to the next generation. If you have a piece that is damaged, I assess each case on an individual basis, looking at wear and tear since purchase and the reason for returning the item. There is no official warranty period on any items.
How do I pay?
Payments are made through our website by Stripe. You do not need a Stripe account to pay – you can do so using a card, and payment is secure. Payments can also be made by BACS (phone or internet banking) if you prefer, please email or phone for this option.
When will my account be debited?
Your account will be debited when your order is placed.
How do I know when my order has been received?
You will receive an email confirmation, sent to the email address you provided. Please keep this email; it contains your order reference number which you may need at a later date.
Can orders be delivered to a different address to my own?
Yes, I can ship to a different address. Please fill in the desired delivery address in the appropriate box as you order. No details of prices are included in the package, in case your purchase is a gift. Gift wrapping service is available on request.
Courses and Training
Please also see “Is this right for me if…” on the page for each course or workshop for more specific details.
Do you do group courses in the workshop (in person)?
I currently only offer group courses online, because it’s highly effective, and I find that people learn well in their own spaces at their own pace, with time to practice.
Do you teach beginners?
I don’t generally teach absolute beginners, who have plenty of options of taster workshops. I concentrate on supporting committed makers to upskill, if you have a passion for metalsmithing and you want to learn more, you are qualified!
Do you offer 1:1 teaching?
Yes, I offer 1:1 teaching both online and in person in the workshop. Bespoke 1:1 workshops are highly effective, like a rocket boost to your practice.
Commissions
Do you take commissions for one-off pieces?
I love to create one-off pieces to commission which can range from small scale personal items to large scale corporate pieces.
How long does it take to create a commissioned piece?
Lead times vary depending on the complexity of the piece as well as other commitments I may already have, so please get in touch to discuss your schedule and requirements.
Can I contribute to the design?
I approach commissions as a collaboration, I’d love to work with you to draw out ideas and significant themes to create something exquisite, something beyond our imagining at the start of the process.
Can we talk about my project idea?
Yes! Please book a no obligation chat about your commission idea here
